About the Journal

Focus and Scope

TEFLIN Journal is a biannual journal published by TEFLIN (The Association for the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language in Indonesia) and UM (Universitas Negeri Malang).

TEFLIN Journal is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal dedicated to enhancing and disseminating scholarly work in the field of English Language Teaching (ELT). The journal publishes both conceptual and research-based articles within the fields of teaching English as a second or foreign language, English language teaching and learning, and English language teachers' training and education.

The journal is accredited "Rank 1" as a scientific journal under the decree of the  Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, dated 27 December 2021, No: 164/E/KPT/2021, effective for five years from Vol. 32 No. 1, 2021, until Vol. 36 No. 2, 2025. 

It has been indexed in several international academic publication databases, e.g., DOAJ, EBSCO, Proquest, Indonesian Publication Index (IPI), Google Scholar, WorldCat, Science and Citation Index (Sinta), and ERIC.

 

Peer Review Process

TEFLIN Journal is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal. Submissions which meet the requirements of the journal are reviewed by two experienced reviewers in the field of ELT and are rated using the following criteria.

  1. The title is appropriate, concise, and clear. 
  2. Abstract well represents the article.
  3. The writer's aims are clear and well justified.
  4. The writer uses appropriate references.
  5. The references are adequate.
  6. All parts are complete and relevant.
  7. The article is of appropriate length.
  8. All the statements are clear.
  9. Diagrams, figures, illustrations are clear and functional.
  10. The article contributes to the advancement of theories and/ or practices in the field.
  11. For research report articles:
  • The problem/issue/purpose of the study is clear and well justified with contextualization within the wider web of relevant studies.
  • Research methodology and design suit the purpose(s). 
  • Research procedures are clearly described.
  • Research findings are well presented.
  • Discussion well explains the findings and logically links the findings to theories and/ or practices; alternative perspectives are sought for (where applicable).
  • Conclusions are well drawn.

 

Publication Frequency

TEFLIN Journal is published twice a year in the months of January and July.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
